What it is
Conveyor scrapers are cleaning devices — typically blade systems at the head pulley or along the belt — that scrape adhering material from the cover. The term often overlaps with belt cleaners in plant language: primary scrapers, secondary scrapers and return-side ploughs. Blade materials include polyurethane for general duty and tungsten carbide for highly abrasive or high-speed belts.
Scraper performance depends on mounting stiffness, blade tip geometry, tension arrangement and compatibility with belt repairs or mechanical fasteners. A scraper that chatters or skips leaves streaks of carryback; one set too hard grooves the cover. Mining, coal handling, quarries, cement and ports install scrapers on nearly every troughed belt. Process industries with sticky powders need careful blade selection to avoid smearing.
